Adair County Arts Council holds February meeting

Updating activities of the Adair County Arts Council, Anne Bird accepted the leadership position as president of the ACAC from retiring Tim Smith in January after she and her husband Alan relocated their businesses to the former Henrietta and Jeff Scott galleries in Sparksville.

Items on the agenda for her first meeting included a guest appearance by Doug Beard, director of the Columbian Theater, a logo contest, membership levels, an Adair and surrounding county member directory, and the calendar of events. For more information visit www.AdairCountyArts.com .

Columbian Theater nearing a March 2023 opening

Doug Beard shared this photograph to describe progress on the renovation of the Columbian Theatre during the monthly meeting of the Adair County Arts Council. Beard said it is possible the theatre could be open in March. The venue will feature an expanded stage, new sound system, epoxy-coated floor, and steam-cleaned seats. Beard noted that care was taken to preserve the traditional features of the theatre whenever possible. The facility will seat between 250 to 270.
