Herbert Lester Wright, 77, Greensburg, KY (1945-2023)

Herbert Lester Wright of Greensburg departed this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 77 years old.

The funeral services for Herbert Lester Wright will be conducted at 11amCT on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Tom Downey officiating. Burial will follow in the Kessler Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and will continue after 7amCT on Friday until time of the funeral service.


Herbert Lester Wright, son of the late Charles B. Wright and Mamie Ethel (Wright) Wright, was born on Friday, November 2, 1945.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was founder of Faith Family Ministry, and had pastored at New Hope Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church and Leatherwood Baptist Church. Mr. Wright had also worked for the former Greensburg Manufacturing Co.

Survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Lou Houk Wright of Greensburg, having united in marriage on July 17, 1965.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Tommy and Darlene Wright of Greensburg; a daughter and son-in-law: Kimberly and Chad Sweet of Elizabethtown; a chosen daughter: Michelle Sego of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren: Bonetta Wright-Sweet and significant other, Michael Arseneault of Bowling Green, Laura Wright of Lexington, Jason Wright of Greensburg, and Trey Sweet of Elizabethtown; two great-grandchildren: Orion Arseneault and Kailen Arseneault both of Bowling Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Wright was also preceded in death by a son: Christopher Wright in 1974; a sister and two brothers: Irene Loyall, Robert Sylvester Wright, and Randall Lee Wright.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Kentucky Organ Donation Affiliates or Hosparus of Green River, which can be made at the funeral home.
