TJRH: Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes From Stacey Biggs About 1,200 babies are born each year at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. While there is a wealth of information available online to help new mothers enjoy a healthy pregnancy and learn about breastfeeding, an in-person, live childbirth or breastfeeding class provides more in-depth, hands-on practice and knowledge about the entire birth process. Classes include the traditional three-week childbirth class, a Saturday childbirth class, and a breastfeeding-only class. Pre-registration is required. To register, please visit tjregionalhealth.org/events. "Taking a class helps you to find the right answers and build your confidence to help you make decisions that are best for you and your family. In-person classes also provide a sense of community as you will meet others who are in the same stage of life," said Ashley Blythe, RN. Topics include what to expect during labor and delivery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and much more. The classes are taught by our compassionate, highly-trained Registered Nurses who are committed to helping you have a happy and healthy pregnancy and delivery. In addition to the important education material that is covered, our childbirth and breastfeeding classes also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions and connect with other new parents. As always, these classes are provided free of charge for parents who are delivering their babies at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. "In a childbirth class, you'll learn about your options for giving birth, learn how the presence of a loved one positively affects your birth experience, and even find out what's really necessary in a hospital bag," Blythe said.
