Larry Travis Dial, 54, ''Buggy Axle'' to his CB friends

Services will be held at Grissom Funeral home on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. for Larry Travis Dial who died Sunday at his home at 313 Oak Street in Columbia.

He was a truck driver for Coffey Trucking and many knew him as "Buggy Axle" on the CB radio. He was a big NASCAR fan and Mark Martin was his favorite driver.


He was a son of the late Rollin and Julia Mae Hadley Dial and was preceded in death by his second wife, mother of his sons, Sherry Cawthorn Dial, in 1992. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Jaymie Dial and by two brothers, Glenn and Donald Dial.

Survivors include:
  • His first wife and mother of his daughters, Shirley Nash of Columbia

  • His children, Annita and her husband Jeff Barnett, Melissa and her husband Michael Matthews, Craig Dial and Eric Dial, all of Columbia

  • Four brothers, Rollin Jr. Dial, Billy and his wife Betty Dial, Ronnie and his wife Beckie Dial, Kenneth and his wife Ramona Dial, all of Columbia

  • Two sisters, Julia and her husband Shirl Darnell, Mildred Dial Phillips, all of Columbia

  • Two special sisters-in-law, Dean Nash and Patty Nash

  • Six grandsons and four granddaughters: Jordan Christopher Travis Baker, Cameron Barnett, Bryan Kelsay II, Larry DeCarr Matney, Chance Barnett, Jaykob Lee, Kortnei Kelsay, Jaireka Barnett, Sherica Burton and Keitha Lee.
Bro. Ralph Foster will officiate at the Wednesday morning service with burial to follow in the Columbia Cemetery.

In leiu of flowers, donations should be made to American Heart Association, Gideon Bibles or the donor's favorite charity.
