Adair Board of Education given two dates for Special Tax Recall election

Ann Melton offers school board a choice, but will choose date herself if they do not
The Special Election to decide whether the Adair County School Board can impose the so called Nickel Tax will be held either Tuesday, December 6, 2005, or Tuesday, December 13, 2005, Adair County Court Clerk Ann Melton said when called today.

The School Board has been given the option, Mrs. Melton said, so long as Superntendent DarrellTreece lets her know by 12 noon, Wednesday, October 26.

"Since they're the ones paying for the election," she said, "I thought it would be fair to let them decide."

However, if the board does not elect to choose a date, Mrs. Melton said that she would do so tomorrow. "My choice is the 6th," she said.

The actual certification of the signatures will be on Friday, October 28, 2005, Mrs. Melton said.
