Nickel Tax Petition will be certified; Ann Melton will set election date soon County Court Clerk Ann Melton has now validated 759 signatures, 15 more than necessary to requre an election, and will now set an election soon. The Adair County Board of Education voted to pay for an election at its regular monthly meeting, held Thursday, October 20, 2005, should one be necessary. It now appears inevitable there will be a special election. Mrs. Melton says that the most likely date for the election will be either Tuesday, December 6, or Tuesday, December 13, 2005. Those who are not registered to vote in next years election, and those who have not updated registration, are encouraged to do so as early as possible. This story was posted on 2005-10-21 11:38:22
