Donald J. Murphy, Sr., 70, Columbia, KY (1952-2022) Donald J. Murphy, Sr. of Columbia, formerly of Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. He was 70 years old. The funeral services for Donald J. Murphy, Sr. will be conducted at 11amCT on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Randy Camfield officiating. Burial will take polace in the Lebanon National Cemetery at 10amCT on Monday, December 19, 2022, with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veteran's Honor Guard. Visitation is requested after 9amCT on Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service. Donald J. Murphy, Sr., son of the late Mary Frances Murphy, was born on Wednesday, December 3, 1952 in Oldham County, Kentucky. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Shepherd's Chapel Church. He was a retired self-employed carpenter, and was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Dellanna Hayley Murphy of Columbia having united in marriage on August 23, 1984. Other survivors include his children: Tanya Marie Murphy, Tara Murphy Morris, Donald Jay Murphy, and James Ketcher all of Minnesota, Donnie Murphy, Dale Murphy, Michael Krebs all of Columbia, and Julie Rushing of Louisville; a brother and sister: Harold Whitaker of Louisville, and Ann Tyler of Florida; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends also survive. The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the family memorial fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
