Welby Richardson Gibson, 95, Edmonton, KY (1927-2022) Welby Richardson Gibson of Edmonton passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was 95 years old. Funeral services for Welby Gibson will be held at 1pmCT on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East St., Edmonton, KY, with interment in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3pmCT until 8pmCT on Thursday, and will continue after 9amCT on Friday at the funeral home. Born in Metcalfe County September 2, 1927 to the late Hartfield and Melissa Head Gibson. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rosie Fields Gibson. A daughter, Joan Gibson Branstetter, two grandsons, Joe Reid and Charles Nunn. A son in law Charles Yates "Snookum" Nunn and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and lifelong farmer. He was also a United States Army veteran serving from January 3, 1946 until April 20, 1947. Mr. Gibson and will be remembered for his jovial laughter and quick wit. He was a friend and neighbor to all. He is survived by two children. Gary and wife Tammy Gibson of Middletown, Kentucky. Cathy Nunn of Edmonton. A brother Garfield Gibson also of Edmonton. Three grandchildren. Kyle (Meagan) Gibson of Florence. Caleb Gibson of Middletown and Emily (Kevin) Hartmann of Mulberry Grove, Illinois. Eight great grandchildren. Grayson Nunn, Zack Nunn, Braden Hartmann, Connor Hartmann, Laurun Robison, Ryder Knight, Anastasia Gibson, Eli Nunn, Liberty Nunn and Isaac Nunn and Travis Nunn.
