John Durbin, Sr., 85, Jamestown, KY (1937-2022)

John Durbin, Sr., of Jamestown, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022. He was 85 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 7pmCT on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N. Main St., Jamestown, KY, with Bro. Darrell Pelston officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden in Mt. Washington, KY.

Friends may visit on Wednesday from 4:30pmCT until the time of service at 7pmCT, at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY.


He was born on February 16, 1937, in Louisville KY, the son of Ernest & Lillian Durbin.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Dora Zweydorff & Sue Pfeiffer, a brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Durbin & 2 Brother in laws, Gordon Pfister & Jesse Johnston.

His children Vicki Tungate, John Durbin Jr (Brenda) & Joey Durbin (Marcy Radar) will greatly miss him.

He was a meat cutter/meat manager at A&P then PicPac for over 40 yrs. He was a member of the Nazarene church for over 60 yrs. He was a big fan of UofL sports & he loved fishing. He hand crafted split bamboo fly rods, which he received both national & local recognition for. His favorite place away from home was Kentucky Lake where he spent his honeymoon & later brought his children for vacations.

He had 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Dawson (Kevin), Jessica Tungate (Bobby Ferguson), & Joshua Tungate. Plus 3 great grandchildren, Kaleb Dawson, Madelyn (Maddie) Smith & Lydia Ferguson. They were the light of his world.

He is proceeded in death by his beautiful wife of 49 yrs Mary Durbin, a granddaughter, Meghan Tungate, a brother, Charles Durbin, & 2 sisters Dorothy Pfister & Martha Johnston. His memory will be cherished by those who loved him including his many nieces, nephews & friends.

The familey extends a special thank you to Hospice of Lake Cumberland for the amazing care that they gave him.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers to make donations to Hospicelc.org
