State may put caution light at 206 and Green Hills, Mayor Bell says

  1. Mayor Bell, former Mayor Hardwick get consideration for caution light at Green Hills Rd, 206

  2. They also get receptive hearing from Highway Commissioner Marc Williams to cut down, beautify rock ledge on Burkesville ST

Mayor Pat Bell said that during Kentucky Highway Commissioner Marc Williams' visit to Columbia, Tuesday, October 18, 2005, he and former Columbia Mayor Curtis Hardwick went over the town to see construction sites and to show Commissioner Williams where other highway improvements are needed here. Mr. Hardwick is now Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Intergovernmental Affairs, for the State of Kentucky.

"We showed him the dangerous intersection at Green Hills Road and 206," Mayor Bell said. "Curtis and I asked him for a caution light there, and it said he thought it could be done."

The Mayor also said that he and former Mr. Hardwick also showed Commissioner Williams the stone ledge across from Walker Florist on Burkesville Street, and that Commissioner Williams promised to look into getting the ledge cut down, to make it more attractive. The work would improve visibility at what is now practically blind entrance to Frazier Avenue West and give a better view around the curve there.

Chamber message was that roads projects on track

Mayor Bell said that Commissioner Williams told the Chamber of Commerce luncheon audience at Cranmer Hall that all the Adair County Highway projects are on track, and that he does not foreses any problems with any of them.
