The Tabernacle School Photo of 1947, furnished by Tabernacle alumnus Tommy Giles, adds another element to the growing archived Tabernacle lore on this site.

Besides this photo, we've found six other pictures and some stories.

We'd like to have more history, photos, and events from the old school, the church, and the community around Leland Grant's store, and invite readers to submit them to: ed@columbiamagazine.com .

For a link to other stories, click on this: Tabernacle search links. But for even better results, enter your search in the search box. Try any of the following searches in the Search box or think of others related to the area:
  • Tabernacle

  • Leland Grant's Store

  • Neatsville

  • Green River

  • Or any family name related to the River.
Some of the returns will lead obituaries, some to history, some to people you know. For instance, entering "Ora Lee Jones," will return a list of stories with that great teacher's name.

Or, enter "Ronnie Grant" or "Henry Giles," scan the archived stories, and you'll find an old black and white photo of mentor and student and an answer to the question, "Who taught Ronnie Grant how to fish."
