Raymond Stapleton, 89, Columbia, KY (1933-2022) Raymond Joseph Stapleton of Columbia died on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at his residence. He was 89 years old. The family chose cremation, and a memorial service will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Burial will follow in the Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 3, 2022, after 9amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born in Knifley, KY on March 15, 1933, to the late Jackson Robert "Rob" and Maude Ella Watson Stapleton. Mr. Stapleton attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army. He was a retired Diesel Mechanic and enjoyed buying and flipping houses. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing yard work. Survivors include nine children Joetta Fletcher (Daryl), Barbara McGaha (Russ), Wilma Handy (Greg), Cindy Bradshaw (Dean Bell), Raymond Alan Stapleton, and Greg Stapleton all of Columbia, KY, Sheila Hodges (Jerry) of Princeton, KY, Michael Stapleton of El Paso, TX, and Jack Stapleton (Joyce) of Cave City, KY; 26 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, several great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Jean Stapleton, 8 siblings, 1 grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren.
