Scheidegger family sends gratitude to neighbors, Fire Dept.

By Heather Scheidegger

Thank you to our local brave heroes at the Columbia/Adair Fire Department and our brave and concerned neighbors that we had a home to sleep in after a barn/storage building caught fire on Saturday afternoon, October 22, 2022.

Gerald and Judy who live on Pelly Lane smelled and heard the fire popping and came quick to move gasoline and other items out of the fire's way since we were away from home in the afternoon. Dennis and Renee Reeves came to turn the electric off, for everyone's safety. Dusty and Jennifer Martin were able to finally get in touch with us and update us on what was happening. Carol Reeves (and other neighbors whom we have not been able to identify yet) also came to lend support and prayers as well as help salvage what they could. Thankfully Gerald and Judy called the fire department who got here in time to save our home! We wish God's blessings on all these wonderful people and thanks be to God that they came to our rescue when they did. The Fire Department said 5 minutes later could have lost us our home.

We would like anyone else who assisted yesterday at 1535 Bull Run Road to please call or text Matthew Scheidegger at 954-994-7028 so that we may keep you in our prayers and know who all of you are-since we are somewhat new to Columbia, KY. Another statement to the strong character and generosity of this great community and our gracious and kind neighbors.

We are eternally grateful for God's Grace and for all the wonderful people who assisted his Good Works. We send prayers for all of our community and wish you all a safe and peaceful season throughout the upcoming holiday celebrations.

--In great gratitude, The Scheidegger Family
