Colby Pickett, 85, U.S. Air Force Veteran, businessman

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Colby Pickett of Columbia. He passed away at his home after an illness on Sunday. He was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church, retired farmer, former owner of Pickett Shoe Store in Columbia and Russell Springs, and was a former partner in the Russell County Auto Parts. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Pickett was the son of the late Jim Willie and Eunice V. Orr Pickett.
  • He is survived by his wife Wayne Coffey Pickett of Columbia

  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Sue and Billy Grant of Liberty and Donna and Charles Jones of Rockfield, KY

  • Five brothers: Lester Pickett of Greensburg, Boyce Pickett of Decatur, IL, Foster Pickett of Russell Springs, Joe Pickett of Nashville and Frank Pickett of LaGrange, KY

  • One sister, Ruth Moore of Greensburg

  • Also surviving are four grandchildren: Rick Grant, Dr. Bradley Grant, Rebecca Jones and Jenna Jones

  • One great grandchild, Colby McAfee Grant.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Ellis Pickett, Harvey Pickett and Ann Austin.

Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Tuesday

Dr. Mike O'Neal and Bro. Randy Johnson will officiate at the Wednesday afternoon service. Interment will follow in the Orr Cemetery in Green County.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Columbia Baptist Church and may be made at the funeral home.
