LETTER: Robin Willis Hill sends word from Rita-ravaged Jasper, TX

I constantly tell people that I love Jasper because it reminds me so much of Kentucky and the town I grew up in! - ROBIN WILLIS HILL
Daughter of Bob and Nancy Willis asks for prayers for town

Tree fell on house; there's no electricity; water is questionable
Photo with this story
As an Adair County native, I wanted to share my experience with the people of Columbia as my new community of Jasper, Texas has sustained damage from Hurricane Rita.

Our house had two trees fall on it and cause considerable damage. We have been without electricity for a week and a half and have been told it will be approximately three more weeks. The water is questionable if you have any. Ice, gas, and drinking water has been brought in.

Workers from around the country are pitching in to begin the clean up.

I am employed by the Jasper Independent School District and we are out of school indefinitely. My husband is pastor of Peachtree Baptist Church in Jasper and our church lost its steeples and has roof and water damage throughout. The heat has been unbearable for many who don't have resources for generators or transportation.

I constantly tell people that I love Jasper because it reminds me so much of Kentucky and the town I grew up in!

Keep our town of Jasper in your prayers. You may contact my parents, Bob and Nancy Willis for any additional information on how you can help.
