Daryl Rooks, 54, Columbia, KY (1968-2022)

Daryl Ray Rooks of Columbia died on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN. He was 54 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmET on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro Dennis Roberts and Bro. Bobby Withers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bearwallow Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Wednesday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


He was born on August 5, 1968 in Columbia, KY to the late Dewey Ray Rooks and Margaret Sue Campbell Rooks of Columbia who survives.

Mr. Rooks was of the Christian faith and an employee of Cleary Construction. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment, especially a track hoe, riding side by sides with friends, riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Melissa Ann Roberts Rooks of Columbia, KY; two sons Dustin Rooks (Brittany) of Russell Springs, KY and Dylan Rooks of Columbia, KY; a granddaughter Remington Oakley "Remi" Rooks; three siblings Peggy Redmon (Archie), Darren Rooks (April) and David Rooks (Melissa Jo) all of Columbia, KY; his father-in-law Bobby Roberts (Ova) of Columbia; his sisters-in-law Donna Green (Todd), Sheila Roberts and Jennifer Moss (Gary) all of Columbia, KY; a special lifetime friend Fonso Stanley, Jr. of Columbia and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Ruby Burton Roberts and a brother-in-law Bobby Ray "Bubby" Roberts, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Fonso Stanley, Marty Morgan, Chris "Piggy" Hammock, Darren Cleary, Todd Green, Gary Moss, Sammy Burton and Luke Kinnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Bryant, Dan Bryant, Cody Tomlison, Archie Redmon, Arthur Flynn and Ervil "Junebug" Stanley.
