Football: LWC opens MSC play at Cumberlands Saturday By Christopher Coombs Fresh off a bye week, the Lindsey Wilson football team is set to begin Mid-South Conference play on Saturday when they take on Cumberlands (KY) on the road. Kickoff is set for 5pmCT at James H. Taylor II Stadium, 81 Rant St, Williamsburg, KY. Saturday's game marks the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs. Lindsey Wilson owns a 6-2 record against the Patriots, including 3-2 in Williamsburg. Lindsey Wilson has won the last six meetings with the Patriots, including a 49-0 win last season in Williamsburg. The Blue Raiders have won 31 consecutive regular-season games and 23 straight against Mid-South Conference opponents. Cumberlands (KY) owns wins over Union (KY) and St. Andrews (NC) this season by an average of 31 points per game. Lindsey Wilson and Cumberlands rank in the NAIA's Top-5 in scoring defense this season through two games. The Blue Raiders are allowing 4.5 points per game -- fourth best in the NAIA -- while Cumberlands is surrendering six points per game -- fifth best. The Blue Raiders rank third in the NAIA this season averaging 39.7 yards per kickoff return. Noel Patterson has returned a pair of kickoffs for a team-best 51.5 yards per return. Patterson also ranks second in the NAIA averaging 204 all-purpose yards per game. Will McDonald's 209.5 passing efficiency is second-best in the NAIA this season. He has completed 25-of- 38 passes with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Lindsey Wilson and Cumberlands are two of 26 unbeaten teams in the NAIA.
