Dream Depot benefit at Fiesta Mexico raises $1,200 for WAIN Katrina relief

Station Manager Louise Wooten says total raised at station is now $14,807.71; contributions can continue to be made until October 5, 2005
The Dream Depot benefit held in Fiesta Mexico raised $1,200 for the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.

The Dream Deport performed from 7-9 p.m., Friday night, September 9, 2005.

With the Dream Depot/Fiesta Mexico $1,200, the total raised by the WAIN 93.5 FM/1270 AM radio station effort was $14,807.71 at 1:10 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2005, according to Louise Wooten, station manager.

Fiesta Mexico restaurant patrons donated to the effort, and the wait staff at the popular restaurant donated all their tips during the period.

"We raised almost $1,200 with the donation bucket and the tips," Dream Depot manager Elaine Bennett said, "and a man from Russell Springs gave us the balance to to make it an even $1,200."

The money was turned in Monday morning to the WAIN Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.

The show was coordinated by Dream Depot performers Neal Sneed and Jan Overstreet.

"We really appreciate the opportunity we had to help the WAIN relief drive and we especially appreciate Fiesta Mexico and their patrons. They were generous, and we loved hearing the wonderful comments they made about the talent from the Dream Depot," the Depot's impresario Elaine Bennett said.Mrs. Wooten said that contributions can still be made to the effort by calling the radio station at 270-384-2134 or 2135.

Donors can then go any of the local banks to make the donation, if that is easier for them. The drive will continue until October 5, 2005.

News of upcoming performances at the Dream Depot can be found at ColumbiaMagazine.com or can be heard on WAIN at 9:15 a.m. each Friday morning, on Dream Depot Detailsprogram, which is heard right after Lisa's Country Closet.
