Urgent prayers requested for people in Louisiana and Mississippi

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has set today, August 31, 2005, as a day of prayer for their citizens and their state after the devastation of hurricane Katrina.
Our friend and reader Ruth Ann Campbell passes on the request for prayers for the people of Louisianna and Mississippi from President Bush's internet prayer site:


"Together let us cover the Gulf Coast and the nation with our prayers ..."

The following prayer requests from that site were included from Ruth Ann:

Healing and health for the injured,

Wisdom and strength for relief workers,

Consolation for those who have lost loved ones,

Peace and comfort for those who are displaced, particularly those housed in the Superdome,

Cessation of looting and a spirit of lawfulness on the part of all,

Restoration of power and water supplies,

Food and water to come quickly to those stranded and homeless and

Swift and efficient implementation of aid by government agencies.
