L.E.A.D. ADAIR COUNTY, just an idea last year at this time, met it's goal with a Phase II kickoff Friday evening, August 12, 2005. The new group is challenged to tackle one project, to be accomplished through the leadership of the people involved, which will leave our community a better place at the end of their eight-month term.

One of the group's exciting goals is to work toward possible development of each of the three county elementary schools (scheduled to be closed next year) into Community Youth Centers which would be used for safe recreation, after-school learning opportunities, and other life enriching activities.

The kickoff meeting began with a catered banquet at Meadow Hill Cafe. Afterward the group gathered for introductions and brainstorming where they will be meeting monthly, at the Columbia-Adair County Training and Development Center at 201 Burkesville Street.

The name L.E.A.D. ADAIR stands for Leaders Enthusiastic About Developing Adair County. For more information or to register for a future class, contact any member of the new group listed below, or any alumni, with a call to the Chamber of Commerce at 384-6020.
