Coping with the fuel price crisis: 4-day school week?

Webster County, KY, school system says idea working well

Coping with the high price of fuel has been the major topic for businesses, commuters, and especially for rural school districts.

At least one Kentucky School system, Webster County, has instituted a four-day school week. The Dixon, KY, system, located in Western Kentucky, added instructional time on each of the four days in the new schedule.

The system received wide publicity on the move.

In Webster County, students go to school Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and are off Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
