Summer Shade man killed in one-car accident
36-year-old Metcalfe man killed in one-vehicle accident in Monroe County Raul V. Valtierra, 36, Summer Shade, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner following a one-vehicle accident 2.5 miles north of Tompkinsville, KY, on Beech Groves-Boles Road. The accident occurred Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 11:25 p.m., Mr. Valtierra was northbound in a 1987 Chevrolet; he ran off the roadway and struck an earth embankment. He was not wearing a seat belt. The accident was investigated by Tpr. Andy Olson of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY. Information for this report courtesy Trooper Dwaine Barnett, Public Affairs Officer, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, Nine-year-old Tompkinsville Boy admitted to hospital after being blown out of truck bedA nine-year-old Tompkinsville boy, Joseph Pruitt, was admitted to Monroe County Medical Center after the mattress on which he was riding in the back of a truck caught wind and blew out of the truck bed along with the boy. The accident occurred at 7:35 p.m. (1935 hrs), Monday, August 22, 2005, two miles north of Tompkinsville on KY 163. Roy J. Crews, 57, Tompkinsville, was operating the Chevrolet truck in which the boy was riding. He was not wearing a seatbelt. A passenger in the vehicle, Joe Pruitt, 47, was not wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Tpr. Carey of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated the accident. Information for this report courtesy Trooper Dwaine Barnett, Public Affairs Officer, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, Nancy passenger treated and released following Stephens Ridge Road accident Barbara Ruble, 42, Nancy, KY, was treated and released at Russell County Hospital following an accident at the intersection of Stephens Ridge Road and Harold Aaaron Road in Russell County. She was not wearing a seat belt. The accident occurred at 12:45 a.m., Sunday, August 21, 2005. Barbara Ruble was a passenger in a 1987 Mazda driven by Maurice Ruble, 42, Nancy, who was not belted and not injured. The Ruble vehicle was eastbound on Stephens Ridge Road, approached a 90 degree curve, passed through the intersection of Harold Aaron Road, and struck an earth embankment. The accident was investigated by Trooper Jeremy Johnson of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY. Information for this report courtesy Trooper Dwaine Barnett, Public Affairs Officer, Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, Casey bicyclist airlifted to UK after being struck by car Click here for followup on this story: A 14-year old Casey Couty girl, Vanessa Kamberly, Liberty was flown from the scene to the UK Medical Center in Lexington after being struck by a car while riding her bicycle at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005. The accident occurred in Casey County, 14 miles south of Liberty on KY 837. The driver of the car, Derek Hamilton, Yosemite, the driver, was not injured. According to Kentucky State Police, Miss Kamberly was attempting to cross KY 837 when she was struck by the southbound 1992 Mercury Topaz driven by Derek Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Trooper Mike Woodrum of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated the accident.
