James Robert Allen, 89, Campbellsville, KY (1932-2022) James Robert Allen, of Campbellsville passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 in Hodgenville at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. He was 89 years old. The funeral service will be held at 11amET on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Otter Creek Separate Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Mike Gribbins will be officiating. The family requests visitation from 5pmET until 8pmET on Saturday at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY, and after 10amET on Sunday at the church. James Robert Allen, the son of the late James and Rebecca (Allen) Allen, was born June 28, 1932 in Taylor County, KY. He had made a profession of faith on Christ and was a member of the Otter Creek Separate Baptist Church and was a former flooring installer and enjoyed pitching horse shoes. He was a Veteran, having served in the United Stated Army. He united in marriage on September 24, 1954 to Eldora (Beard) Allen, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2021. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Kay Wetington; a son-in-law: Tim Cissell and four brothers and five sisters: Henry, John M., Everett and Creed Allen and Elsie Price, Froni Burress, Novella Perkins, Doreen Durham and Nora Vaughn. Survivors include five children: Vickie Quinn and husband Greg, James Rex Allen, Sandra Cissell, Ronnie Allen and wife Kellie Jo, all of Campbellsville, Shannon Gilbert and husband Derrick of Georgetown. Also a son-in-law: Billy Joe Wethington; fourteen grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. L.R.
