Dean Rowe, 68, Sulphur Well, Metcalfe County, KY

D. Dean Rowe, Sr, 68, of Edmonton, Kentucky passed away peacefully in his home, at the Rowe Estate, on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. Dean spent his last days surrounded by family.

He grew up in Sulphur Well, Kentucky, where he leaves behind a historic legacy to the community, Cabin Creek, located on Little Barren River. He will be remembered for his great gift of story telling, his generous spirit, and his leadership roles in the community.



Dean was the only son of the late Murrell and Lucy Ervin Rowe. He leaves behind his loving wife, Gena Couch-Rowe, his son Dennis Dean Rowe, his grandson, Jordan Dean Rowe. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and his cherished friends.

He retired from the Kentucky State Transportation department representing Metcalfe County. He continued his career and served as a County Road Supervisor. He served for decades as an active member in the Metcalfe County Fiscal Court meetings. After his retirement from the Kentucky State transportation department, he continued his education and earned his license as a Kentucky State Master Auctioneer. He continued to work as a local partner with Dile Reality and Auction Company, Edmonton, Kentucky. Dean was a noted historian and co-author of The Historic Images of America Metcalfe County Kentucky, notably displayed in the National Library, Washington, DC.

He was appointed to represent Metcalfe County on the council of the Barren River Area District, as an honorable board member. He was also appointed and passionately served multiple terms as a board member of the Metcalfe County Nursing Home. He was an active participant in both the Kentucky State and local Democratic Party. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge #931 And served as a local officer during his membership.

Visitation Services for D Dean Rowe, Sr. will begin Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 3pm -8pm, Mason Services will be conducted at 6pmCT on Thursday. Friday April 22nd 9am - 3pm with formal funeral services beginning at 3pm at Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, Kentucky. He will be Laid to rest at Smiths Cemetery, Sulphur Well, Kentucky, beside his parents.
