Bradley Payne Jeffries, 72, native of Columbia, KY

"Bradley kept Kentucky in her heart. She was a diehard fan of Kentucky Basketball and closely followed Kentucky politics. Bradley considered growing up in Columbia an idyllic childhood and she maintained friendships there throughout her lifetime."

Bradley Payne Jeffries, 72, passed away on June 4, 2021 in Ft. Myers, Florida after a lengthy illness. Bradley was born in Columbia, Kentucky to Dr. Todd and Ilene Jeffries, both deceased.

She is survived by her first cousins, Robert Lynn Jeffries of Columbia, and Ann Todd Jeffries Dupree of Lexington, and Ann Todd's children; Edward Thomas "Hap" Houlihan, Dickson, TN, and Mary Lynn Houlihan, Lexington, KY, and their combined six children.

Bradley graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Journalism in 1971 and followed that career from Kentucky to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Dubuque, IA until settling in Sanibel, FL where she had a column in the newspaper and a weekly spot on television news.

In the late 70's she had a chance meeting with Robert Rauschenberg and they hit it off immediately. Mr. Rauschenberg was a very important and influential artist who hired Bradley to be his business and life manager. Her life with him included being on the Board of Directors of Change, Inc and The Rauschenberg Foundation; two projects that are still making a difference in the lives of artists.

Her travels with Rauschenberg took her all over the world and exposed her to incredible adventures and opportunities. During Bradley's almost 30 years of working with Rauschenberg until his death in 2008, he gifted her with many of his original artworks.

Even through her years away, Bradley kept Kentucky in her heart. She was a diehard fan of Kentucky Basketball and closely followed Kentucky politics. Bradley considered growing up in Columbia an idyllic childhood and she maintained friendships there throughout her lifetime.

The family and friends of Bradley Jeffries plan to use her expansive art collection as a means for memorializing Bradley and her work with Robert Rauschenberg.

Her collection will be exhibited at the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery in Ft. Myers, Florida from April 25th through July 2022.

After which, it will move to the University of Kentucky Art Museum to be on display throughout the 2022 Fall Semester.

After which, it will move to the Black Mountain College Art Museum for display until May 2023.

After her collection of Rauschenberg's completes its planned memorial presentations, pieces will be donated to each of the exhibiting institutions for display in an ongoing memorial to Bradley and her legacy of working in the arts.
