GRL Park Rangers announce water safety poster contest

Park Ranger Andrea Davis is working with ACES art teacher Rachel Waggener to coordinate a water safety poster contest with the students.

Davis and another Park Ranger, Cole Upton, visited with ACES students on Monday morning, April 18, to provide information about the contest. The entire 5th grade will participate, and they will have 2 weeks to complete posters that highlight the theme: "No Matter the Season, Water Safety is Always Important".

Ranger Davis says, "We hope that all other posters will be displayed somewhere in the school. We are very excited about this project and the partnership with the school- we hope the kids will enjoy it and can't wait see their creativity!"

Four winners will be chosen, one grand prize winner and three runner ups. The grand prize winner will have their poster framed and hung in the Corps Visitor Center for all visitors to see. The three runner ups will have their posters hung in the Corps' three campground bulletin boards for all incoming campers to view. Each winner will also receive a lifejacket provided by the Friends of Green River Lake non-profit group. The Friends group will also be paying for the framing of the grand prize winner's poster.
