GRL Army Corp. of Engineers visits ACES 5th grade Students

Andrea Davis and Cole Upton, Park Rangers with the Green River Lake Army Corp. of Engineers visited with Adair County Elementary School 5th grade students on Monday, April 18, 2022, to demonstrate and teach students about the different types of life jackets.

They also gave all 5th graders an opportunity to compete in a poster contest. The theme of the poster contest is "No Matter the Season, Water Safety is Important." Posters are due April 29, 2022, and the first place winner's poster will be on display this summer at the Green River Lake Army Corp. of Engineers Visitor Center. Second, third, and fourth place posters will be on display at other Green River Lake Campgrounds. Other prizes will be given to all winners.

This life vest is just too small to hold up Ranger Cole

Cole Upton, Park Ranger with the Green River Lake Army Corp. of Engineers, demonstrated how fifth graders could begin to know how to pick the proper size of their life vests when on the water.

Ranger Andrea Davis spoke about the pros and cons of each size as he modeled different vests. The goal is to pick the best fit so it holds you up in the water in an emergency.
