Baseball: LWC begins extended road trip at Cumberland By Kyle Jackson The Lindsey Wilson baseball team begins an eight-game road trip to finish the regular season starting this weekend when they travel to (RV) Cumberland University (TN) in a three-game series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday with first pitch from Ernest L. Stockton Field at NoonCT, followed by a single game on Saturday at 2pmCT. The Blue Raiders (21-16, 9-10 MSC) enter the contest after losing against Campbellsville on Senior Day 7-8 in a shortened game due to weather. Lindsey Wilson remains one of the top offensive teams in the NAIA, ranking 13th in the nation in hits with 434, eighth in On-base percentage .449, and fifth in the country in batting average with .356. Gabe Board leads the offense with his team-leading 65 hits and third-ranked .422 average in the MSC. Nico Martinez leads the team in RBIs with 38. Martinez also has 13 stolen bases on the season, the third-most in the MSC. On the pitching side, Cohen Achen has tossed 54.1 innings and recorded a conference-leading 67 strikeouts, for a 2.65 ERA which leads all starters. Cade Duncan leads the relief pitching from the bullpen with a 3.86 ERA in 11 appearances. Cumberland, (25-16, 14-3 MSC) enters the series after sweeping a weekend matchup against Bethel.
