Freeze Watch issued for Saturday night

The National Weather Service in Louisville, KY, has issued a Freeze Watch on Saturday, April 9, 2022 for an area including Adair County and all surrounding counties. This Freeze Watch remains in effect from late tonight through Sunday morning.

Scattered light rain and snow showers are expected across the outlook area this morning and into the early afternoon hours. A few areas may see a quick slushy accumulation where a stronger shower moves through.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the high 20's overnight in south central Kentucky. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Much of next week appears to be unsettled with multiple rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms. Some strong to severe storms may impact the region on Thursday.
