L.P. Posey, 74, Green County, KY (1947-2022)

L.P. Posey of the Black Gnat Community of Green County, son of the late Elbert Posey and Mae Rodgers Posey, was born on Monday, May 19, 1947 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2022. He was 74 years, 10 months, and 16 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired woodworker for the former Greensburg Manufacturing Company, and a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM.



Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Elvis and Jalynna Posey, and Charles and Rhonda Cook Posey all of Summersville; two daughters and sons-in-law: Melanie and Ronnie Cruse of Summersville, and Stephanie Posey and Pete Bell of Mt. Sherman; five grandchildren: Jennifer Mays, Andrew Posey, Suade Posey, Cynthia Perkins Hale and Cecily Posey Bryant; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother: Mary Alice Meadows, Linda Kay Hall, Peggy Sue Curry all of Green County, Connie Patterson of Campbellsville and Loren Posey of Green County; the mother of his children: Joyce Posey of Summersville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter: Keisha Mae Posey; a great-granddaughter: Aubrey Hale; siblings: Mary Lou Edwards, Brenda Fay Matney, Everett Posey, Jr., Billy Gene Posey, Samuel Posey, James Ray Posey, a stillborn brother, and a stillborn sister.

The funeral services will be conducted at 10amCT Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Bro. Dannie Nelson officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4-8 Thursday at the Cowherd and after 7am Friday until time of the funeral service.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Maple Hill Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
