Tyler Bailey, 73, Korean War Veteran

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for Tyler Bailey with graveside services to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Bearwallow Cemetery. Services are also scheduled in his hometown in Indiana on Monday before his body is brought back here.

Mr. Bailey was the son of the late John Austin and Myrtle L. Williams Bailey of Adair County and is survived by:
  • His wife, Janice D. Cowan Bailey of Fortville, IN

  • One daughter, Marty Corbin and her husband Glenn of Columbia

  • Two sons, James Tyler, Jr., and his wife Tina of Fortville, IN and Harold Austin Bailey and his wife Julie of Florida

  • Four brothers: Dewey E. Bailey and his wife Glenna, Albert O. Bailey, Bro. Vitis L. Bailey and his wife Alberta of Columbia; Tommy Bailey and his wife Jenny of Campbellsville

  • One sister, Juanita Clark of Columbia

  • Seven grandchildren: Jason, Amanda, Natalie, Natasha, R.J., Brandi and Scott

  • Five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends survive
Tyler was a member of The Bible Church and was a truck driver for 28 years retiring from Bendix Corporation in 1992. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of Moose Lodge # 17.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The Bible Church building fund and may be left at the funeral home.
