Donald Bell Sweeney, 72, Casey County, KY (1949-2022) Donald Bell Sweeney, of Liberty, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at age 72. He was a former board member for the Casey County School Board and the Ag/Expo Center and was active in starting the Casey County Heritage Days. He was co-owner of First Choice Auctions and former co-owner of United Country Realty in Liberty. He was always active in his community and was a former president of Hickory Hills Country Club. He was a former Little League baseball and basketball coach and was a member of the First Christian Church in Liberty. Born July 10, 1949, in Louisville, KY, he was a son of the late Dr. Garnett Jones Sweeney, Sr. and Virginia Bell Sweeney. Survivors include his sons, Clay (and Jerusha) Sweeney of Hustonville and Ben (and Tawney) Sweeney of Louisville; brother, Dr. G.J. (and Shelley) Sweeney, Jr. of Lexington; sister, Barbara Sue (and Larry) Griffin of Liberty; 3 grandchildren, Justin, Connor, and Tori; and the mother of his children, Pam Sweeney of Danville. Funeral services will be held at 2pmET on Monday, April 4, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 - 2 Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Don's memory are suggested to the Casey County Board of Education, 1922 N.
