Barn Lot Theater: Farce of Habit opens April 21, 2022

By Ann Moss

Barn Lot Theater in Edmonton is returing to the Reel 'Em Inn with the Wilburn family of Mayhew, Arkansas in Farce of Habit, the Southern-fried sequel to their 2021 hit play, Farce of Nature.

Farce of Habit opens Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Barn Lot Theater, 207 South Main Street in Edmonton, KY. Show dates are April 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 28th, 29th, 30th, and May 1st. More details can be found at http://barnlottheater.org.

Performances start at 7pmCT on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and 2:30pmCT on Sundays. Masks are required for unvaccinated and optional for vaccinated patrons. Present your vaccine card at concessions for a free small popcorn.

In this show, the proprietor of the Reel 'Em Inn, D. Gene Wilburn is hoping for a peaceful weekend of fishing, but there are a few...obstacles in the way of his lake time! With his son Ty's marriage to Jenna on the rocks, his wife Wynelle's attempt to break her caffeine habit cold turkey, and his sister Roxie's strange undercover investigation, the Wilburn household is under a lot of stress!

Add to this a wacky guest list which includes a gaggle of nuns (which would be tolerable if D. Gene didn't have a nun phobia!), an egotistical celebrity love guru, an awkward and shy retiree taking his very first vacation, and a couple of wild women who may or may not be who they claim to be, this may turn out to be a recipe for disaster. And did we mention the storm of the century is converging upon them and an axe murderer is on the loose? Poor D. Gene may never get to go fishing again! If you enjoy gloriously preposterous hilarity, then laughing your way through the take-no-prisoners lunacy of this Jones Hope Wooten comedy is one habit you'll never want to break!

The entire original cast of Farce of Nature has returned to reprise their roles or play new ones in Farce of Habit. The Wilburn family (which is most of the cast) is the same, but the visitors are different people this time; the four actors who played the guests at the Inn last time will be playing these new characters.

Stephanie Barnes, who plays Sister Myrtle Agnes in the play said, "I am very excited to be returning for the sequel and playing a different character. This play is funny but the cast makes it hilarious."

Brandon Kyle Hadley, Executive Director of Barn Lot Theater and Director of the Farce plays, said: "We are excited that the original cast is returning for our next installment. This show may very well be funnier than the last. While the last installment built to a funny conclusion, in Farce of Habit, the hilarious moments will catch you by surprise. Nuns, an axe murderer on the loose, and tornado season-what more do I need to say?"
