Phillip Coffey - Family Lore

FAMILY LORE - By Phillip Coffey
In a quiet, placid evening a kinfolk member up and spoke
'I guess my Daddy is amongst the laziest men that ever lived.'
Walked into the chicken house, looking for his finest rooster-a scheming
Grabbed him above his spurs - quickly, placing him under his armpit.
Walked through the neighborhood, exchanging tales - 'had something to trade on'

Visiting close family, distant kin and others too - trying to make a profit.
Figured trading a prized rooster was much better than grabbing a hoe or a plow.
Have no official document, signed affidavit - but just about exactly what I heard.
I knew and heard what kinfolk member 'up and said'. Knew his father as well.
Dad and Uncle Ural told me about the other stuff in some fashion.
