Mark Wayne Prater, 64, Russell County, KY (1957-2022) Mark Wayne Prater, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was 64 years of age. Mark enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and selling his produce at the Farmers' Market. In recent years, he volunteered as an assistant coach for Russell County Youth League baseball. Mark was a member of Russell Springs First United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family, but his grandbabies were the center of his life. Born on September 17, 1957, in Quantico, VA, he was a son of the late Daniel Wayne and Madeline Scales Prater. Mark was a laboratory technician and lab supervisor for over 40 years. He was an employee at several medical facilities in his long career, as well as more recently, employed at Premier Tox Laboratory. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Foley Prater, of Russell Springs; two sons, Mark Robert (and Shavona) Prater, of Russell Springs, and Ethan Prater, of Russell Springs; two daughters, Heather Prater, of Lexington, and Lauren (and Tim) Wade, of Lexington; one brother, Barry Prater (and Debra), of Lexington; and eight grandchildren, Ciara (and Taylor) Jones, of Russell Springs, Brooklynn Romans, of Lexington, Madeline Prater and Leigha Abner, of Russell Springs, and Lydia Wade, Cora Wade, Amelia Wade, and Jude Wade, all of Lexington. A memorial service and celebration of life for Mark will be held at 9amCT on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Tim Wade and Bro. Dennis Price officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, and will continue Thursday at 8 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Russell Springs First United Methodist Church "Bed Ministry", PO Box 291, Russell Springs, KY.
