KSP believes arson caused fire which gutted Mt. Zion Church of God near Knifley

KSP Arson Task Force is offering reward of up to $1,000

Call 1-800-27-ARSON if you have information

KSP Detective Alex Wesley is investigating a church fire that occurred at Mt. Zion Church of God on Eastridge Cemetery Road, 5.5 miles north of Knifley, on Saturday morning, July 9, 2005.

The church was gutted. Arson is suspected.


The fire was reported to Taylor County 911 at 7:30 a.m., Eastern Time, 6:30 a.m. Central Time Saturday morning.

The Knifley Fire Department, Taylor County Fire Department, Adair County Sheriff's Department, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms responded to the call.

Detective Wesley announced that the Kentucky Arson Task Force is offering up to $1,000 for any information leading to the arrest and indictment of suspect or suspects. The caller will remain anonymous. The number to call is 1-800-27-ARSON

Kentucky State Police will comit any and all resources to multiple agencies investigating the fire.
