Myrtie Ruth Abbott Parsley, 87, Campbellsville, KY (1934-2022) Myrtie Ruth Abbott Parsley of Campbellsville passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her residence. She was 87 years old. Funeral Services will be held at 2pmET on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, 317 E Main St, Campbellsville, KY, with Rev. Neil Salvaterra officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, KY. Visitation will be on Monday from 9amET until time for the service at the First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville, KY. She was born on June 3, 1934 in Monticello, KY to the late Willie and Vie Ann Chriswell Abbott. She was preceded in death by her husband Hoyt C. Parsley. Mrs. Parsley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville and a retired art teacher at Green County High School after retiring she taught art at Campbellsville University College. She was more than a teacher to those whom she taught. She considered her Students family and stayed in contact with them up to the time of her death. Survivors include a Nephew Wade Abbott of Lexington, KY; and two sisters-in-law Hazel Abbott of Lexington, KY; and Stella Abbott of Monticello, KY; special friends Bonnie Wilson, Michelle Sanders, Ashley Sanders and Tori Sanders all of Campbellsville, KY; special friend and caretaker Brenda Hicks of Campbellsville, KY. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers Robert Abbott, Roy Abbott and Ralph Abbott. Pallbearers will be Jeff Pickett, Jeff Walker, Dave Debro, Shane Stonecipher, Roger Benningfield and Oval Tapscott. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
