ACHS Academic Team Award Winners at District By Brett Reliford Despite the challenges of navigating another season through a pandemic, the ACHS Academic Team emerged with Governor's Cup District honors on Saturday, January 22, 2022. The team captured the Runner-Up trophy overall and in Quick Recall. The Future Problem Solving team won the District Championship along the way as well. The District Championship FPS team was represented by Amber Loy, Abby Claywell, Caylin Coffman, and Ada Gass. Quick Recall participants on the day were Bailey Watts, Amber Loy, Ronan Flaherty, Joseph Kotter, Trevir Andrews, and Tristin Andrews. The team was also led by Bailey Watts, the individual District Champion in Arts and Humanities. Watts also took home the 2nd Place award in Language Arts, a pair of high honors representing the team in her first year as a Freshman. Fellow Freshmen brothers Tristin Andrews and Trevir Andrews finished 2nd in Science and 4th and Science respectively. In addition, Trevir also earned a 3rd Place medal for Mathematics, securing a spot at Region in two events along with Watts. Seniors Amber Loy and Ronan Flaherty also advanced to Region and earned individual honors. Loy completed her fourth year in a row of placing in the Top 5 in Composition by winning 2nd Place in the event. Flaherty captured his spot on the medal stand with a 4th Place finish in Language Arts. All individual medal winners and both the Quick Recall team and Future Problem Solving team advance to Region at South Warren High School in Bowling Green on February 14 and 19.
