David A. Smith, 60, Russell Springs, KY (1961-2022)

David A. Smith of Russell Springs passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. He was 60 years old.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2pmCT on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11amCT on Sunday, until time for services.


David was born September 1, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Calvin and Ormal Withers Smith. He worked many years in the cutting department of Fruit of the Loom, of Jamestown. David enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was a member of the Kellyville Community Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Samantha Smith (and Adam McBride) and Kaitlyn Smith, both of Bowling Green; his grandsons, Levi McBride and Cade McBride, both of Bowling Green; his sister, Pam Kerr, of Russell Springs; sister-in-law, Sherry Smith, of Russell Springs; aunts, Modine Hall, Evona Withers and Fanny Mae Jacobs; uncles, Norman Smith and Glenfield Smith; and nieces and nephews, Lora Walters (and Randy), Ashley Kinnaird (and Bill), Josh Smith (and Elizabeth), David Paul Kerr (and Serena), and Adam Kerr (and Katrina).

Along with his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Douglas Smith; his sister, Judy Smith, who passed away in infancy; and his brother-in-law, Steve Kerr.

Active pallbearers will be Randy Walters, Jeremy Walters, Zach Walters, Adam Kerr, David Paul Kerr, Bill Kinnaird and Josh Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Ethan Kinnaird, Levi McBride and Cade McBride.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the David A. Smith Memorial Fund, c/o Bernard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 308, Russell Springs, KY 42642.
