Knifley soldier, Kenneth D. Carter, remembered in Bob Hill column Column a fine World War II story, a great account of a father and a son Ron Devore of Metcalfe County spotted a story online which should interest every Columbiamagazine.com reader. It is Bob Hill's column in the Saturday, June 18, 2005, Louisville Courier-Journal which tells the story of a Knifley, KY, man who served in World War II and is now buried in the National Cemetery in Lebanon, KY. It's a Father's Day tribute which is as moving as any you'll ever read, whether you are from Adair County or not.The column is an account of the life of Kenneth D. Carter, as remembered by his son, Don Carter, Jr., of Bullitt County, and brilliantly retold by Mr. Hill. Those who have read columns Bob Hill has written about his own father know his inimicable ability to portray close father-son relationships. It's a great Father's Day read. Mr. Devore directs readers to the left hand column of the state news section of today's Courier-Journal.
