Donald M. Bennett, 74, Columbia, KY (1947-2021)

Donald M. Bennett of Columbia passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg. He was 74 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmCT on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Pastor Troy McWhorter officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Thursday.


He was born January 5, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late William Zachary and Valtha Burbridge Bennett. Donald served his country during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Army, was a member of Calvary Temple Church and a self-employed sign painter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Pierce, one sister, Barbara Madsen and three brothers, Arlen Glen Bennett, Phillip Bennett and his twin Ronald Bennett.

Survivors include:
  • His wife - Linda Akin Bennett of Columbia
  • Two sons - Adam Bennett and Richard Burris both of Columbia
  • One sister - Wanda Bagby of Chicago, Illinois
  • Five grandchildren - Wesley Burris, Brooke Burris, Nathan & Jeremiah Pierce and Cherish Little
  • Three great-grandchildren - Judah, Camden and Melody Joy
  • Several other relative and friends
