Basketball: LWC Men travel for exhibition against Southern By Christopher Webster The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team continues their road trip facing Southern (LA) in their second consecutive exhibition match. Tipoff is scheduled for 7pmCT tonight, Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Clifford Seymour Gym in Baton Rouge, LA. This will be the first time these two programs have faced each other. The Blue Raiders (7-5, 0-4 MSC) enter the game after falling 85-59 in an exhibition against Lee (TN). Elijah Jordan recorded 14 points with four rebounds and a steal. Mark Edmond added 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Jordans leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 54.8 percent from beyond the arc, second-best in the conference. Ranking sixth in rebounding and ninth in steals in the conference, Edmond averages a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game and 1.5 steals per game. As a team, Lindsey Wilson averages 77.0 points per game while shooting 47.4 percent overall from the floor. The Jaguars (3-6, 0-0 SWAC), an NCAA Division I team, fell 76-64 to Kentucky in their last outing. Senior Jayden Saddler led the Jaguars in scoring with 18 points while shooting nine for 17 overall. Junior Brion Whitley shot three for six from the three-point line finishing with 14 points and junior Tyrone Lyons chipped in 12 points along with two rebounds and two blocks. Averaging 14.0 points per game through nine games, Lyons leads Southern in scoring while shooting 57.1 percent from beyond the arc. Senior Damien Sears averages 6.1 rebounds per game to lead the team. As a squad, Southern averages 71.1 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field.
