Anna Peterson, who is serving as Technical Director for The Nutcracker Ballet, writes of the upcoming show:

This week, Adair County families are participating once again in bringing arts to the local community. The Peterson family has long been involved in local arts from performing with the Burkesville Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA), to playing many of the Von Trapps in LWC's The Sound of Music, to being cast as multiple roles in Campbellsville University's production of Shrek the Musical. This year, the Peterson Family and other locals once again take the stage, this time through A Different Drummer Dance Academy in Campbellville, Kentucky, as they present The Nutcracker Ballet!

The Petersons are not the only local family involved in the show. Newcomer to ballet, seven-year-old Treasure Konsavage, has been taking gymnastics for three years but is making her ballet debut in this production. You will see her onstage as a mouse, gingerbread, and Polichinelle. She has only just begun ballet, taking her first class this past summer, but it has quickly become her favorite! While still young, she is incredibly talented and is a wonderful addition to the show.

The titular character, the Nutcracker, is played by the youngest Peterson child, Samuel Peterson at the age of 12. He began taking dance classes three years ago when he was cast in his first ballet. Since then, he has participated in numerous classes, learning styles such as ballet, tap, contemporary, and acrobatics.

The next Peterson sibling in the lineup is 13-year-old Bethany Peterson, who was cast as one of three Claras and will be performing on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. When she is not performing as Clara, you will see her onstage as a flower and a soldier. She has been taking ballet for four years and loves every bit of it!

Mercy Peterson, at 14, plays the roles of Snow Queen, flower, marzipan, and maid. Mercy has also been taking ballet lessons for many years, but her favorite class is actually acrobatics as she dreams of taking her dance talents to the screen as a movie stunt-double. This show is definitely good practice, as she performs dozens of impressive "stunts" throughout her dances.

Nathan Peterson is the oldest sibling dancing in the show at the age of 16. He started taking dance classes less than a year ago and is making his debut on the ballet stage as a Russian, Soldier Doll, and Arabian Prince. Most people know Nathan from his years on the Blue Raider Swim Team, or his time on the Green River Composite Mountain Biking Team. In this show, he is using all of this athletic talent to throw himself across the stage in various impressive leaps and spins.

As you can see, these local children are passionately working to bring arts to this community through this production. As such, the Konsavage and Peterson Families would like to invite you to come see the show, performing at Taylor County High School (2705 Old Hodgenville Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718), December 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. You can reserve tickets by going to this link. Tickets will also be available at the door. Performances will be at 6pm CST each night and at 1pm CST on Saturday and Sunday, so there are plenty of options to fit into any schedule.

Treasure, Samuel, Bethany, Mercy, and Nathan all hope to see you there!
