Obituary: Madeline Frances Hovious, 89, Warren Co., KY

Madeline Frances Hovious, 89, a Knifley, KY, native now living in Bowling Green, died at 9:45 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2005 in Bowling Green.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery No. 2.


Mrs. Hovious was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church in Bowling Green, KY.

She was a daughter of the late Nolan Jones and Louise Chelf Jones of the Knifley area of Adair County.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert L. Hovious, Sr.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Chuck Smith, Bowling Green

  • Two sons and a daughter-in-law: Robert Hovious, Jr, and his wife Sandra, Bowling Green, KY; and Doug Hovious, Bowling Green, KY.

  • Four grandchildren: Gregg (and wife, Priss) Hovious, Louisville; Laura Littleton, Nashville, TN; Julie Wade (and husband, Wesley), Franklin, KY; and Jonathan Faught (and wife, Brooke), Brentwood, TN.

  • And six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of gifts to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1106 State St., Bowling Green, KY 42101 or to Commonwealth Health Free Clinic, 740 3. 10th Street, Bowling Green, KY 427101.
