Carlis B. Wilson, minister, author, Genealogist web master

Carlis B. Wilson, 70-year-old son of the late Leslie and Blanche Wheeler Wilson of Columbia, passed away Monday May 16, 2005 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday May 19, 2005 at ElmRidge Funeral Home in Muncie, IN.

Readers here knew him as a wonderful writer and may not know of his many life accomplishments. Carlis was a retired minister of the Church of God and pastored churches in Indianapolis, Noblesville, Veedersburg, South Bend, Shelbyville, Anderson, Kokomo, Seymore, and Muncie.


He was a retired autotechnician, Genealogist web master, and authored several books He was a member of the Church of God (Cleveland Assembly), a Kentucky Colonel, received his degree as Doctor of Divinity and was an ordained bishop of the Church of God. He was also an ASE certified Technician, and Member of the Adair County Genealogical Society.

He is survived by:
  • His wife of 51 years, Lola Kiser Wilson of Muncie.
  • Three Daughters: Judy (Robert) Gault of Cleveland, TN, Debbie (Randy) Bertram of Yorktown, and Marcia (Kevin) Baker of Fishers.
  • Two Sisters: Marcine (John) Hamilton of Indianapolis, Ethel (David) Eck of Plainfield, Indiana.
  • One Brother: David (Yolanda) Roe of Bedford.
  • Grandchildren: Jeremy and Jonathan Gault, Christopher and Amanda Bertram, and Cassie and Collin Kelly.
  • Also surviving are severalNieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Wilson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday May 19, 2005 at ElmRidge Funeral Home with Revs. Jerry Ballard, Danny Tompkins, and GaryMcManus officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on WednesdayMay 18, 2005 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elm RidgeMemorial Park

The family would like to express our appreciation for all the prayersand support during my Dad's recent illness. He was able to perform themarriage of his youngest daughter, Marcia to Kevin Baker on Fridaynight before his death on Monday. That was the last thing he wanted toaccomplish before he went and he succeeded in doing so. We think it isa marriage made in Heaven!

Thanks for being a part of our father's life the last few years.Everyone made a difference to him. He enjoyed getting to know all ofyou.
