State Championship Week has arrived for Adair Co. Band

By Jennifer Hardwick

The Adair County Marching Band will be spending the week in preparation for this Saturday's KMEA State Marching Band Championships at Kroger Field in Lexington, KY!

The Adair County Band--the current record holder for the most State Championships of any band in the history of the event at an astonishing 24--will be performing in Preliminary competition at Boyle County High School at 11:15amCT on Saturday, October 30, 2021, in hopes of making their 35th straight State Finals appearance. (And yes, that is another state record they share with Lafayette High School.)

This year's group, led by Director Jordan Humphress and Assistant Director Cameron Johnson, has faced many challenges to reach this point in the season. Illness, injury, and a lost season in 2020 due to Covid have all combined to create obstacles at every turn, but these Adair Band students have risen to the challenge! The Adair pride, spirit, and talent is shining through each and every member as they move forward into Saturday's competition.

Their show this year is entitled, "Sure on This Shining Night," and was designed by Adair native and band alumni Rob Depp. Eyes with Pride, Adair!
