Cross-Country: LWC to compete in Jenna Strong Invitational

By Christopher Webster

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's cross-country teams continue their season Friday in the Jenna Strong Invitational.

The Jenna Strong Invitational is held in Wilmington, OH. Formerly known as the Wilmington Fall Classic, the event was renamed in honor of a former Wilmington runner, Jenna Parlette, in 2013. Parlette, a member of the women's cross-country team, was leading a race at Franklin College in the fall of 2013 only to collapse with the finish line in sight. She passed away three days later.

The last time the Blue Raiders competed in the event was on Oct. 11, 2019, where the men's team placed 11th and the women's finished 16th. The men's team scored 335 points and the women's received 506 points.

Levi Owen was the first Blue Raider to cross the finish line for the men, placing 24th with a time of twenty-six minutes and eight point two seconds. On the women's side, Meredith Johnson was the first to finish as with a time of 20:14 she placed 53rd.

Live results and will be available for the event. The Lindsey Wilson men and women's cross-country teams are scheduled to begin the Jenna Strong Invitational at 5:15pmCT tomorrow in Wilmington, OH.
