LWC Volleyball to celebrate Senior Day Friday

The No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team will celebrate six seniors on Friday night as they welcome Cumberland (TN) into Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. First serve is set for 6pmCT.

Prior to the event starting, Lindsey Wilson coaches and family members will honor two junior varsity seniors in Nichole Carver and Vonnea Smith as well as four varsity seniors in Abby Grubbs, Lauren Larzelere, Alexis Smith, and Thais Vieira.

The Blue Raiders (15-4, 8-2 MSC) enter tomorrow's game after sweeping Tennessee Southern 3-0 for the second time this season Tuesday night.


Currently, Lindsey Wilson is hitting .280 - the fifth-best mark in the NAIA - while their 12.60 assists per set is the 10th best average in the county. In addition, the Blue Raiders 13.46 kills per set ranks 15th in the nation while Radaisy Valdez continues to lead the NAIA in hitting percentage at a .476.

Cumberland (22-7, 7-3 MSC) enters tomorrow's game on a three-game win streak including a sweep against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in their most recent match.

This season the Phoenix are hitting .213 and are averaging 12.40 kills per set. Harlee Kate Reid leads the squad in kills per set averaging 2.44 while Bianca Rodriguez averages 5.66 assists per set. Defensively, Sadie Edmonston leads the team in digs, averaging 5.65 per set.

Lindsey Wilson won the earlier match against the Phoenix in a five-set battle (26-24, 24-26, 23-25, 28-26, 15-11) on September 17th and leads the all-time series 38-8.

First serve from Biggers Sports Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
