Cyrus: Lamentations. Delayed dispatch from the Frozen North This dispatch from Closer to the Arctic Circle was transmitted Sat, 23 Apr 2005 10:46:12 -0400. We are happy that, though delayed, the information has finally been thawed, electronically, and is herewith revealed. It is believed that our courageous bureau chief has made it through the latest Ohio blizard, and that we'll no longer suffer the recent dearth of news from Central Ohio. -Ed
Lest you think I was (to use a good Southern KY expression) stretching the blanket about the weather forecast for the weekend, take a look at this info from weather.com for the next 36 hours: Today: Windy. Rain...mixing with snow by afternoon. Thunder possible. High 44F. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of precip 90%. Snowfall around one inch. Tonight: Periods of snow and windy. Cold. Low 28F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 4 to 6 inches. Tonight: Windy. Snow during the morning will give way to a mixture of rain and wet snow during the afternoon. Cold. High 39F. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of precip 80%. Snow accumulating 2 to 4 inches. I shoulda taken that job as printer's devil Editor Hamlett offered me at the Adair County News instead of letting you fast talk me into this central Ohio bureau chief's job. :) If the snow does indeed materialize, I'll try to get a couple of photos for you to post. Maybe the charitable folks of Adair Co., that blessed slice of Paradise where God vacations, will take pity on me and drop ship some union suits! If time allows, I may have another related bit or two for you later. But first, I must mush to yon grocery store to buy the obligatory gallon of milk and loaf of bread. Maybe I'll just stop by the White Cash Market, chat with proprietors Pete Walker & L.H. Gore, and pick up some center cut pork chops at 69c/lb and 25 lb. of White Lily Flour at $1.45. Still reporting way back when from way up north, Cyrus This story was posted on 2005-04-27 04:34:49
