Tennis: LWC Women claim MSC Fall Invitation Title By Christopher Coombs Owensboro, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team capped off a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitation with two wins today against MSC foes. The Blue Raiders took down Campbellsville University 5-2 on Saturday morning before taking down Cumberlands (KY) in the championship 4-1 in their afternoon match. The Blue Raiders will break for the winter and will kick off their spring season on March 12th, 2022 at Shawnee State. MSC Fall Invite Semifinal | Lindsey Wilson 5 - Campbellsville 2 The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team bought a ticket to the championship match of the Mid-South Conference Fall Invite after defeating Campbellsville (KY) 5-2. The Blue Raiders (2-0) won all three doubles matches and four of the six singles competitions to secure the 5-2 win. Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora got things started in doubles action with a 6-4 win while Parisa Rachdanone and Darija Mladenovic won the second match 6-2 to claim the doubles point. Yuno Oe and Salome Sposetti also won their doubles match 6-1. In singles action, four of the six Blue Raiders won in straight sets with Parra keeping things going with a 6-2, 6-4 win. The Tigers nicked a point back in the second match after Oriana Espinoza Mendoza won 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 over Rachdanone for the 2-1 scoreline. Mora helped extend the lead for Lindsey Wilson winning her match in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 while Mladenovic also won in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. Campbellsville made it 4-2 overall after Addison Sutton won her match in straight sets over Oe 7-5, 6-1. Sposetti secured the victory in the final singles game, winning her match 6-0, 6-1. With their win, the Blue Raiders advanced to the championship game where they faced off with Cumberlands (Ky.) at 3 p.m. CT. MSC Fall Invite Championship | Lindsey Wilson 4 - Cumberlands 1 The Blue Raiders won the double point after the pairing of Parra and Mora and the pairing of Rachdanone and Mladenovic clinched for LWC. Parra and Mora won their match over Tomomi Nagao and Mikaela Fros 6-3 as Rachdanone and Mladenovic took down Johanna Beckmann and Satruki Mitani 6-4. Needing just three points to claim the match at the start of in singles play, Mladenovic rolled in her match to a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Beckmann. Mora then added to the Blue Raiders lead when she won 6-4, 7-5 over Hana Shimano. Sposetti then defeated Fan Chau 7-5, 6-3 to clinch the match for Lindsey Wilson. Parra and Rachdanone also competed in singles play but their matches went unfinished. Catherine Rae defeated Yuno Oe 6-4, 6-0 to claim the Patriots' only point of the afternoon.
